~ A short getaway ~

Finally have some time to update my blog today.... Hee!

My hubby to be and I went on a cruise - Star Aquarius for 5D4N Penang/Phuket from 13 to 17 Apr 08. He needs to clear some leave and a break from work. This is the first time for me and I was excited... Star Aquarius underwent 9 months of refurbishment and is now in Singapore. Star Virgo, the bigger ship is deployed to Hong Kong for 6 months...








We reached Harbourfront at about 10 a.m and had breakfast at Han's. After check-in, we shopped around Viviocity. The queue at the boarding area was really long...Kiasu people!!



HTB said dun have to join the queue... So we wait nearby and when we heard the announcement for boarding, we just go in front and joined the rest of the people. In the end, the original queue was all messed up! Lucky we didn't join the queue!! Haha...

We have up to 6 meals a day - breakfast, morning tea, lunch, high tea, dinner and supper. It is up to you to eat! But the condition is that you cannot have a meal more than once in different restaurants. For.e.g. you can't have dinner 2 times at different restaurants... If not, they sure lugi... Hee! So HTB and I planned what to have and which restaurant to go for our meals each day.... Breakfast and lunch are usually intercontinental. We tried Indian cuisine for lunch one of the days. Dinner is Chinese cuisine. We tried outdoor BBQ dinner too.

During this trip, I really love the seaview... It is beautiful and we feel so relaxing.....

I was quite surprised that there are actually many things we can do onboard the ship. HTB and I went for Swedish massage (at a discounted price of $75 per pax for 1 hr) and KTV for 2 hours ($60 with 8 cans of soft drinks, 1 jug of fruit punch, satay and a big plate of fruits). We went to the casino too but didn't manage to win money.... Haa! There are also gym, childcare centre, hair saloon, medicure/pedicure shop etc.

The live band onboard was very good. They sang very well and we enjoyed it. We also particpate in games and the shows in the evening. On the last night, the crew actually performed themselves. We realised that there were a lot of talents among them.

We disembarked at Penang and Phuket on the 14th and 15th respectively. There are several land tours we can choose from. Initially we chose heritage and shopping for Penang. But when we reach Penang, we were told that our coach has left. So we can only choose shopping. I was a little disappointed but the shopping tour was fun too. It is only until the next day when we heard from those who went for the heritage tour that when they reach the second temple, it was already closed. They were complaining because they could not get the refund. It was a blessing in disguise for us! Hee!

Overall, it was an enjoyable short getaway... A different experience too... Get to enjoy seaview and some shopping... Hope that we can go onboard Star Virgo for another cruise trip !!
