Age with grace ~~

35! Cannot believe it.. time really flies

Was telling my mum I will be 40 soon.. and her response was "I will be 60 soon, you know by then"..  Both of us are in awe.. When each year passed by, I didn't realise that I am aging (haha!).. This year I can feel my health is not as good as before, blood pressure suddenly becomes low and will be easily tired.

My little wish for this birthday - I hope I can age gracefully... together with my hubby, becoming healthier and to be blessed with my happy family... (",)

Happy Mother's Day ~ Part 2

Domino's pizza and KFC were our dinner last Saturday.. My cousins came over to my house. So we decided to order some pizza and KFC. Domino's is really good. I like the chicken bbq. No overpowering bbq sauce or thick crust. They have thin, medium and thick crusts. We always choose the medium one - New York crust. Yum Yum!! My mum likes pizza and KFC. Mil likes the fried chicken. As for me, I like pizza. Different mothers' preferences..... Haa!

On Sunday, hubby and I went to Giant at Sembawang Shopping Centre to buy storage drawers for bb's clothes after my piano lessons. We were lucky as they were on offer. Usual price is $80 plus and now selling at $50 plus. Good buy! We have a pleasant surprise when they gave out carnation flowers to ladies. :)

My sister and I bought a cake from Emi for Mother's Day. I like the deco... but not the durian filling... It is meant for both mothers - their favourite.

D24 Premier durian filling ~ Beautiful daisies
The hot topic of the day was the election results. We played mahjong, chat, watched TV and have dinner together...

Happy Mother's Day~~ (",)

Merry Christmas ~~ A special one

Christmas was spent at our house this year.. First time in our new house... After some discussion with my brother, we decided to cook chicken rice.. ^o^

Hubby, mum in law and I went to the market in the morning and we bought all the ingredients. After breakfast, we headed home and prepare.

In the afternoon, it was mahjong time. Hubby and I were lucky... We won our mothers! Keke!!

We started to cook at around 6 pm. Hubby, Bro and I were the chefs for the day... :)

Bro bought a flour mix from Boon Tong Kee and hubby helped to fry the tofu and prawns. The batter was really good... We have cooked chicken rice for many occasions over the years. But this time is the perfect one. Taste and texture was right! Yippee!!

Menu of the day:
- 鸡饭
- 鸡汤与生菜鱼圆
- 油菜
- 毛瓜粉丝
- 炸豆腐与虾
- 蒸雪鱼
- 蒸金目卢

Dessert: Bubur Hitam with gula melaka

After dinner, we played a game - Taboo. We were divided into 3 groups - hubby and me; sis and bf and bro and gf. One is supposed to describe and the other one to guess the correct word. There are some taboo words stated in the card and are not allowed in the description. We had lots of fun and laughter! We played till 11 plus and I could not sleep till 2 am. My mind was too active! Hahaha...

For Christmas, we didn't have turkey.. We had the chinese style - steamed chicken.... :))

Merry merry Christmas and a blessed and happy new year ahead!!

Happy 2nd anniversary!

Hubby and I celebrated our 2nd year last Sunday, 05 Dec 2010.

We had KFC a.m platter and a.m american twister for breakfast cum lunch.. Yummy!!

We watched Ms Earth 2010 on TV before we head out around noon. Our first destination was Si Ma Lu guan yin temple. It was very crowded on a Sunday. We had to park at Iluma. Since it is a special day, we decided to queue for the famous KOI bubble tea. Haa! After queuing for 5 mins, we ordered passion fruit green tea. We were give number 175 for our order. The number reflected on the board was 162. We then waited for another 7 mins... What a relief! A total of only 12 mins.... Keke!

Hubby actually had an idea a few days ago - we will choose our anniversary pressies and buy for each other. : )

There is nothing much in Iluma so we head down to Taka. We parked at Starhub centre as Taka will be very crowded. It was the last day of the 4-day sale. First we went Robinsons and shop shop. I saw an Elle weekend bag that I like.. There is 20% sale. But I decided not to buy.... hahaha

Our next stop - Taka.... But I forget to bring my Taka credit card....

We went to Kate Spade and they are having sales... Saw a wallet that I like. Yeah!  We then bought popiah and Korean chicken chop from Taka basement to curb hubby's hunger pangs... I was still so so full from the KFC....

Our hair spa appointment was at 4.30 pm... We had a relaxing and refreshing moment...... Hubby didn't see any thing that he likes so I decided to purchase the hair loss treatment for him.. Highly recommended by the spa.... :)

We still cannot make up our minds for dinner venue...haha.. We went to Meritius Mandarin but the buffet spread is huge. I can't eat much... Finally we decided to go to Shimbashi Soba at Paragon. They have cold and warm soba... and we can have NZ ice-cream at Paragon too.... reminisce our honeymoon in NZ.... We had the hokey pokey (butterscotch), manuka honey and boysenberry flavours..... The ice-cream is not very cold, which I like and it is smooth....

Kamo Shio (premium duck from France)

We walked along the crowded Orchard and I took some pics of the lightings... I don't really like the deep blue and purple colours theme this year. Strong colours....

Then hubby said we should go back and buy the Elle bag... another pressie for me... :))

Hubby and I talked about our wedding day... time really flies... it seems just yesterday....

Happy happy 2nd year anniversary~~

Happy 31st

This year is the best birthday I ever had.

I took leave as it is on a Monday. Hubby is on leave for the whole week too.

I had dinner with my family last Saturday. Mum in law cooked hokkien noodle and we ordered Domino's Pizza. We had other side dishes too. My cake was the Passion Fruit Meringue, from 'The Pattissier'. It is a French dessert. Something different... :)

My cousin called and come over in the afternoon. She made a birthday card for me too. So sweet of her!  I had bodyaches for the whole week and she offered to give me a massage. She is only 17 but has the 'talent'. We discovered years ago... After her massage, I felt so much better....

On Sunday evening, my brother and his gf treated us dinner. We had stewed chicken in a steamboat style... Something different again! Keke!

On Monday, mum in law made mee suah and a boiled egg for me. I checked on some work and hubby and I left home. We went to shop shop at Taka and Kinokuniya. I had a free session of hair spa and hubby just needs to pay for 50%. The sessions ended in 2 hours. I am glad that hubby likes it... It was very refreshing and relaxing...

Hubby has planned for dinner at Robertson Quay. Since I graduated from uni, I have not been there. The place has changed alot. It has become a mini Boat Quay. There are many restaurants but not as crowded as Boat Quay. Since it was still early, we strolled along Robertson Quay. We were caught between Japanese and Italian, and finally I chose Italian. I love Italian pizzas - much better than the US ones. Very home made and the slight "burnt" thin crust is wonderful... Hubby also ordered pama ham and linguini with crabmeat. Yummy!

Mondo Mio signature pizza
Hubby said desserts will be at the next stop... I was saving my stomach for that. We went to Laurent Bernard, that sells French cakes and chocolates. We ordered Chocolate Truffle, which is a dark chocolate cake. Dark chocolate is always sooo good! :)

Chocolate Truffle
This year, I received the most number of birthday wishes in Facebook and smses. Thank you for all the well wishes... Happy 31st! :)

November celebrations

Last Saturday marked the start of our annual November birthday celebrations... ^o^

In our family plus our extended families, we have 8 people whose birthdays are in November - 2 on Nov 1st, 1 each on Nov 4th, 9th, 15th, 20th, 22nd and 28th. My family contributes the most to the list as my sister was born on Nov 1st, mine is on Nov 15th and my mum was born on Nov 20th. We always tease my mum that she really can "choose" when to conceive us.... Keke!!

We had our own steamboat dinner with my sister last Saturday. From the list of choices for dinner venues, she chose to stay at home. Her boyfriend bought her favourite cake flavour - Dark chocolate... Hubby and I went to the wet market and supermarket to prepare the stuff. A simple, homely and happy celebration with our loved ones... I hope everything will go smooth for my little sister.. Things have been tough for her...

Sunday was a gathering for all the extended families.. We had lontong, curry puffs, shanghainese nian gao, korean glass noodle, fried chicken and a durian cake. Hubby and I are not durian fans, so we gave the cake a miss... Haha... As we took pictures for the 8 of us, I remembered I was about 14 years old when Aunt Ling first organised this November birthday celebration. How time flies!!

This month is also the time when we have the most birthday cakes.. Cakes galore! : )

May we be healthy, happy, safe and everything goes smoothly for us! Cheers~~

Birthdays ~ Sept 23

Today is a special day.... On Sept 23 every year, I get to eat 2 types of cake. :)

Our Founder's Day is on Sept 23 and it is our founder, Mr Fred Koch's birthday. To remember him, every office will have a chocolate cake today. Chocolate is his favourite flavour. This year, the secretary ordered a chocolate mousse cake from Emi Cakes. Surprisingly it is really good.... I had a long presentation that lasted for 3 hours and was too busy to have lunch after that. A piece of this cake really act as a stress reliever! Yum Yum!!

How beautiful it is!!

Today is also Hubby's birthday. Due to work commitments, he could not take leave. We planned to have dinner and shopping in the evening. After work, I went to Coffee Club to collect the cake and we went to Santouka, Cuppage for dinner. We ordered the popular Tokusen Toroniku ("pork cheeks") and ramen... The pork is tasty but a little salty. Our ramen that comes with a small portion of curry rice were delicious... We tucked in immediately when the food was served and forgot to take pictures. But I managed to take a picture of the remains of the "pork cheeks"...

We went shopping at Centrepoint after that.... Good food + great buys!

Strawberry shortcake from Coffee Club...

Happy 31st birthday, Hubby.... Lotsa love ~~

Happy birthday to Rima too.... wife of hubby's childhood friend.....

Happy New Year !!!!

Today is the first work day in 2009.... But it is very quiet in the office.... petroleum market is still inactive. Perhaps people are still not back from vacation....

I think I have recovered from my accumulated fatigue....since pre-wedding preparation till the actual day and honeymoon.... Also, I had to handle some issues at home. Finally, my mum is getting used to me being married and not living with her. Hopefully things can continue to get better.... Have been too pressurized after the wedding. Poor hubby! He had to "suffer" together with me....

Well, I guess everyone is trying to learn and adapt.... the new beginning for hubby and me..... a long journey ahead! New lifestyle for my mum, sis and bro too....

Happy New 2009 to everyone!! Cheers... ^o^

Great News...Yippee !!!

Our office has been rather quiet for the past few days. Many people went on vacation or have returned to their hometown in the States... This makes the office colder than before... Cannot believe that I actually have to put on a sweater as well as a shawl.... Freezing!!

I have since recovered from flu and sore throat but still trying to finish the antibiotics... Hopefully I can fully recover before the new year 2008!!

Yesterday, I had bodyaches again.. Maybe due to the irritating air-con in the office. Took a panadol and feel better.... In the afternoon, we received a piece of good news... Our office will be closed on 24th Dec, Christmas Eve... So happie!!!!

This is the first time and could be the last time too. It could be due to the Hari Raya Haji holiday tomorrow and the Singapore oil trading market decides that since the holidays are so close, the market should be very quiet with little trading activity....

My extended family are having a Christmas Eve pot luck party at one of my aunt's place. Looking forward to it.... Great food and fun!!.....

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone! Cheers... : )
